Alex Eddington If you enjoy listening beyond 12 tones, as I do, this is a must-listen journey into extended Just Intonation. Exquisitely organized and beautiful music in many moods. Every jangly note reinforces the tonality, such that I found myself *singing the fundamental* many times. Listened to the whole album in one go, then bought it immediately. Favorite track: Phases.

George Henry Very interesting microtonal music. Favorite track: Aria.

drone2805 This job is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! After a good listening, I realize how much these compositions are PURE GENIUS. Admittedly, we must appreciate the dissonance, but know that no passage is left to chance: THE PROGRESSION IS INCREDIBLE and dissonance is much more structured than it seems at first. It's a brilliant job that reminds me of Marcus Schmickler's excellent "The Palace Of Marvels" Favorite track: Cloud Ticking.
Can This Even Be Called Music?

Can This Even Be Called Music? At over an hour and a half, it’s a massive chunk, and quite a lot to digest, but the minimal instrumentation and the sheer beauty of the pieces make it seem like a breeze. Virtutes occultae is a masterpiece.

tomasch It's a novel, beautiful and deeply satisfying record. One can hear the early 20th century microtonal piano influences together with more modern cell/phase-like minimalism.
The result is well balanced, well thought out and a boon for the curious and playful. Sat thru the whole thing on the first listen.
5/5 would buy again Favorite track: Ballade.

about

Virtutues Occultae is an album in eighteen sections for six physically modeled virtual pianos, each with a unique tuning in an extended 11-limit just intonation.

In writing this music I used a mixture of traditional composition methods of structuring the music with various harmonies and progressions along with more free writing, collage techniques, and algorithmic composition.

The tuning of the virtual pianos extends Harry Partch’s conception of the over-tonality.

This album also exists as a six-channel surround sound concert/installation format.
